How Akiwee was born
Three friends, three working mothers, all quietly carrying the same weight. Every celebration meant the same scramble. Finding vendors who fit the budget, confirming availability, comparing options across Instagram pages, Google searches, and word of mouth, all while working full time and building careers. None of them had said it out loud, but each had felt it. The planning shouldn't be this hard.
Then came the birthday that broke the pattern. A toddler's third birthday, cancelled, not because anyone stopped wanting to celebrate, but because the process of pulling it together was simply too much to carry on top of everything else.
That was the moment the three of them stopped carrying it separately. Over happy hour one evening, they realized they'd each been living the same problem in their own corner of Los Angeles. By the end of the night, Akiwee was born.
What we believe
Personal event planning has been ignored not because it's unimportant, but because it's genuinely hard. It's hyperlocal, fragmented, and built on trust in a way that resists generic marketplace solutions. We think that's exactly why it's worth building well. Akiwee exists to give customers one trusted place to discover, compare, and book local vendors, and to give vendors a professional home and a fair, transparent way to grow their business.
The party was cancelled. Not because we didn't want to celebrate, but because the process of planning it was simply too hard.
